| Although Pattaya is a decent sized town, the areas where tourists will find their happiness is quite small. All is no more than five blocks from the beach, which runs north-to-south on the western edge of town. The north beaches are by far the prettiest and most quiet, and not surprisingly this is where you’ll find the nicer all-inclusive resorts. If traveling with children, you really shouldn’t consider any other option. The nice stretch has Jomtien Beach as its southernmost limit. The central part of the beach is a mix of everything – jet skis for rent, haunted house rides, water parks, alongside shopping, drug pushers (and users), and some go-go bars and girlie bars. The south is where everything gets most hectic, culminating in the famous walking street, closed to cars from 7-12 every night (and usually much later), with any kind of sex show or female (or male) companionship you can imagine. Families should avoid this area, while young men will find themselves surrounded with their brethren – and more and more ladies are coming for the same reasons as the men. |
