Ok, here’s where things go nuts.  You’ve got your usual assortment of nice restaurants, nice views, and more than a few decent bars.   This is less true when you’re in the southern part of the beach, but even around there you’ll find some.

Discos are another option – although many also host ladies called freelancers, working for themselves without an establishment. So there’s still a touch of the vibe in the air.

For the sex nightlife, there’s just a crazy range of establishments. There’s a street with nothing but transvestite shows, another only homosexual shows, still more which cater to ladies, and a huge number of regular a go-go bars where the dancers are clothed scantily if at all, and any are available for the night.

You don’t have to pick up a girl, but be warned – most places expect you to buy at least one drink for a lady, and check the price as sometimes they are big rip-offs. Also, some bars have ladies who are bold and suggestive. You might find shower shows, naked ladies dancing on glass ceilings above your head, and more.

More low-key are the beer bars, where again, yes, the ladies are free to go with whomever chooses them. But the pressure to partake is generally minimal, and plenty of people go just for the lively and generally happy atmosphere. Prepare to be soundly beaten in Connect 4 often.

There are plenty of ‘massage’ options, and one thing to bear in mind about Pattaya – as opposed to the rest of Thailand – is even regular massage parlors might offer a special finish once you’re inside. Most sexual parlors, though, will be fairly obvious from both their façades and their names.

Throughout town there are also plenty of freelance ladies. Again, if you’re inside The Freelancers Bar (near the walking street), it should be pretty clear what’s going on – Pattaya gladly advertises itself.

You’ve been warned – be careful.
