| Around Pattaya are a number of fine to outstanding golf courses, with plenty of prices covered. Ripley’s World of Entertainment is one of the more unusual museums you’ll come across, located in the Royal Grand Plaza right on the beach road. There are a few interactive adventures attached, things like 3D theater rides. Pattaya has both an elephant camp and a tiger zoo close to the city, and there’s also a huge water park creatively named Pattaya Water Park on Jomtien beach. There’s Phra Tamnak Hill, which boasts a wonderful view of the bay and has a small temple, a big Buddha, and a royal statue. And of course, there’s the water. Any water sport you can imagine – and many extreme sports, from go-kart racing to bungee jumping and hang gliding, you can get all your adventurous kicks here, for much less than elsewhere – and the safety is at an international level, so no worries there (well, no more than you’d usually feel jumping off a bridge). Snorkeling and diving is very good around Koh Lan, where those less invested in adrenaline can also view coral reefs through glass-bottom boats. We’ve already mentioned the wreck dives, but just enjoying the exotic sea in fairly clear waters isn’t a bad way to go. The aquatic scene, overall, is better farther south, but for those with limited time in their trip Pattaya is a very acceptable substitute. |
