You’ll find a plethora of cuisines represented in the downtowns of each island (near the piers), from local classics to international fare.  However, the real treat that comes from living on the islands is eating the fresh catches.

Almost every hotel has its own restaurant, and often they line the beaches with barbeques blazing as the sun sets.  Seasonal specialties vary, but if you like fish, you’ll have a hard time finding a fresher meal.  Mahi-mahi,
swordfish, and snapper are some of the selections you’ll likely find, with a plethora of others waiting to be ordered.

Restaurants will often give you a choice in preparation; I recommend going with the least amount of sauce so you can really enjoy the native flavor of these tropical fish.

Drinks are also plentiful.  Whether you want standard alcoholic beverages, exotic cocktails, or fresh fruit juices and shakes, you’ll easily find it at a quality surprisingly high, given the price and distance from what we often call civilization.

One thing to be aware of: while there are a variety of delicious lassi (yoghurt) drinks, the bung lassi is special.  Bung lassis are made with drugs – either marijuana, magic mushrooms, opium, or a mix.  Is it illegal?  Yes, but winked at.  Is it dangerous?  Generally not, but if you don’t know what you’re getting it makes for a nasty surprise.
