This is an island of Thailand eastern side near Cambodia. In the wake of the Dec 2004 Tsunami that effect the western side of the country, a lot of development has come to Koh Chang, which is both good and bad. I stayed at Treehouse, which was good and bad. The development had reached all the way down from White Sands beach to Lonely beach where Tree House is. The developed area is nice but fairly mundane. Tree house was moving to a less developed area, which while much rougher, the better experience. One can live without AC. And open air showers are wonderous. There are a lot of great restaurants and shopping in the developed areas, and great beaches all around. The cabs around the Island in of themselves can be an E ticket ride. But make sure you don't stay out too late, we were hard pressed to get a cabbie not to over charge us after 11pm.

This was what made my trip to Thailand amazing. And its close enough to do day trips to Angkor Wat. (Which I didn't find out until too late.)
