| If you're visiting San Francisco, getting into Berkeley couldn't be easier. The BART downtown Berkeley stop takes you right to the edge of campus on Shattuck Avenue. This is the most convenient way for those without a car (and often for those with a car, too). But beware, if you're spending a night out in one of Berkeley's brewpubs plan ahead. BART stops running shortly after midnight.
If you're coming by car Interstate 80 passes right by Berkeley on the east side of the Bay Bridge. University Drive eastbound takes you from 80 to right up to campus. Parking isn't nearly as bad in Berkeley as it is in San Francisco but you still might have to circle the block for a while before finding a suitable spot. |
| Almost everything that the traveler could want to see is accessable on foot in the area around the UC Berkeley campus. Take BART to the downtown Berkeley stop and you'll be right in the thick of things. BART is also the best way to get out of Berkeley into San Francisco or other cities in the East Bay. |
