The largest and most frequented is the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) http://www.lawa.org/LAX/welcomeLAX.cfm.  LAX is close to the southwestern side of Los Angeles (Culver City, West Los Angeles). Sepulveda Boulevard and the 405 Freeway are direct routes to get there.  Other nearby airports include the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank (www.burbankairport.com/), Van Nuys Airport (small airport) and Ontario International Airport ( http://www.lawa.org/ont/ ), which is in Riverside, southeast of Los Angeles.

Getting Around Edit Section - Los Angeles Getting Around

Public transportation is notoriously bad in Los Angeles. Some people manage to commute by bus but it's hard and cannot be relied upon to be quick, convenient or even available given where you are and want to go.

It's unfortunate but you really need a car to see LA efficiently.

Publications Edit Section - Los Angeles Publications

The L.A. Times is Los Angeles’s daily newspaper and often features tenacious investigative journalism and reviews of cultural goings-on around the city. The L.A. Weekly is put out by the folks who produce the Village Voice and is a great place to look for news about music and art shows, as well as left-leaning political stories. Many L.A. neighborhoods, especially the younger and trendier, have their own regularly published event pamphlets, usually geared toward the hipster scene. If you’re in Silverlake, Hollywood or Echo Park, look for these near the entrances independent clothing or music stores.
