The atmosphere in this U.S./Mexico border city is very relaxed, the people are friendly, the nature and surroundings gorgeous and the things to do countless. Tijuana, Mexico is only about twenty minutes away and makes for a great day excursion or social tourism venture. If you enjoy outdoor activities and culture this is the place for you. There are many beautiful outdoor parks (Balboa Park is especially worth a visit) and the coastline is lined with beaches frequented by surfers, beach bums, locals and tourists alike. The Pacific Ocean can be very cold though, something to consider when you feel like going in the water. The nightlife is very happening even though the clubs close quite early, at two in the morning. Smoking is prohibited indoors in the whole state of California, so you will not come home smelling like an ashtray, which is a perk. And if you happen to be a smoker there is usually a lot of bonding going on in the designated smoke areas outside.

Well, San Diego is a fun city, a little bit more relaxed than LA, (but less things to do there), The main and best attraction of the city is the famous zoo. If the weather is right don't miss  Coronado Beach..you can get some more info about specific attractions in SD in this list- "fun things to do in San Diego, Claifornia" .
Have a great time

San Diego is a great city!  It has such a laid back atmosphere and it's beautiful.  For visitors, I would definitely spend a day at Coronado, a day at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, and then a day up north.  Even for adults Legoland can be a lot of fun.
