Yosemite, on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains, is one of the nation's most famous national parks. It is, after all, the land that captured the imaginations of naturalist John Muir and photographer Ansel Adams. The most popular destination in Yosemite is Yosemite Valley, a wooded grassy valley that sits below towering granite cliffs. From here you have great views of Bridalveil Falls, Yosemite Falls, and Half Dome, three of the parks most iconic features.

But Yosemite Valley is visited by over 3 million people each year and can feel a little crowded. It's packed with campsites, restaurants, and shops. This makes it easy to visit (especially for families) but less serene than one might hope. But the park is much larger than just Yosemite Valley. Many other campsites, hikes and lakes within the park are easily accessible by car, and even more is accessible if you're hiking in.

I brought my family to Yosemite in early June. I am an amateur photographer, and my family enjoys hiking. We found a guiding company called Yexplore that offers guided photo tours and hiking outings. They had a very professional staff of guides who made us feel safe. The photographer was knowledgeable and took me to out of the way places I would never have found on my own. He really knew the park well, had a great eye for photography, and was an excellent teacher. The family tour was wonderful as well. The guides taught us natural history and also discussed the importance of minimizing our impact on natural resources. The kids loved the games we played to help us remember how to "Leave No Trace". I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in Yosemite and we're grateful to have found www.yexplore.com for our adventures.
