Introduction to Denver
At the base of the Rocky Mountains lies the biggest city in and capital of the state of Colorado. It's nicknamed the "Mile-High City" because its elevation is exactly one mile above sea level, and this, of course, is still far below the impressive, snowy peaks just to the west of the big, brassy city, upwards from two million strong. Though Denver's winters are not as frigid as they could be, they still tend to be long and include a good amount of snowfall, often as early as October and as late as April. In line with the Rocky Mountain State mentality, Denver is all about the outdoors, so over 200 parks are dotted throughout the city as well as just outside it, and is also recognized as on of America's top cities for professional sports events. There's a lot of art and music, too, including an opera house, philharmonic, art centers and museums, and some very fun nightlife.
