Lafayette's daily newspaper is The Daily Advertiser. The city has two weekly newspapers, The Times of Acadiana and The Independent Weekly. The Times was founded in 1981 and is now owned by Gannett, the same company that owns The Daily Advertiser. The Independent is independently owned by Steve May and Cherry Fisher May and is three years old. 008 magazine is also independently owned and features listings and information on entertainment, dining, sports, children's activities, and music published eight times a year.
