At the end of the summer, when the tourists begin to taper off, a new kind of life creeps in: music. Every Labor Day weekend, musicians, artisans, photographers, locals, and tourists descend on Gardiner to attend the well-regarded yet still locally-managed Yellowstone Music Festival. Music can range from bluegrass and country to reggae and rock; artwork can range from jewelry to pottery to photography. Anything goes. Mostly attended by Gardiner locals or those from the surrounding areas in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, this festival is also tourist-friendly and offers a great taste of Montana life. In the shadows of the Roosevelt Arch, dedicated by Teddy Roosevelt in 1903, people gather to listen to talented artists from across the country (and sometimes the world), talk about the summer events in the nearby Yellowstone National Park and relax on a still-warm September day.

Dog- and family-friendly, this event is for everyone to enjoy. There is singing, dancing, eating, drinking and shopping. I, personally, highly recommend a trip to Yellowstone during this time, as it marks the end of the endless Park crowds, the beginning of cooler weather, and this fabulous festival. Please visit http://yellowstonemusicfest.com/ for further information. Also, any musician is welcome to perform at the festival! If you'd you like to have some experience in front of an extremely friendly crowd, shoot them an email!
