Introduction to Las Vegas Edit Section - Las Vegas Travel Guide - Hotels & Restaurants

Las Vegas is a huge, sprawling city in the Nevada desert. It's one of the fastest growing cities in the world but for the visitor a trip to Vegas is usually a trip to "the Strip", about 20 long blocks of neon lights, public drinking and casinos. The famous strip clubs are off the main drag. And everything is designed and themed. It's sort of like Disneyland for naughty adults.

Some people can't get enough. Some people can't stand the place. If you like glitz, drinking and gambling (to a healthy degree) then you can't afford to miss Vegas. It has all of these in spades (ha!). If your travels are more about educational sightseeing, Vegas may not be a top destination. The closest you'll get is the replicas of the Statue of Liberty to the Grand Canyon. And if the thought of 24-hour flashing lights and ringing bells and pervasive indoor smoking makes you a little queasy, stay away at all costs.
