Introduction to New Jersey
New Jersey is known as "the Garden State," and though this seems a misnomer to those who've only been to the parts of New Jersey that flank the smoggy industrial zones and highways of Manhattan suburbs, there are in fact over fifty parks, forests, and recreation areas in the state, as well as over fifty historic sites. Nonetheless, squeezed as it is right next to the Big Apple as well as Philadelphia, it is the most densely populated state in the U.S., with just short of nine million people in an area of under nine thousand square miles. Among other attractions in New Jersey that may surprise non-locals: a slew of wineries, water parks, and casinos.
