Introduction to Ohio Edit Section - Ohio Travel Guide - Hotels & Restaurants

Ohio marks the beginning of the midwestern states, bound by Lake Erie to the north and the Ohio River to the south. It is a relatively balanced mix of rural and urban Americana; Cleveland and Columbus, at around 500 and 750 thousand strong, respectively, are booming urban centers that struggle with urban blight as well as show off snazzy downtowns with lounges, cafes, and tourist attractions such as Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Much of Ohio is agricultural, however; fields of corn and soybeans and dairy cows flank the highways. Though most of Ohio's landscape is rolling, grassy plains, the northeastern quadrant, called the Allegheny Plateau, is forested and hilly. Thousands of miles of rivers snake through the state, too, as do over 2500 lakes, making it ideal for fishermen and boaters and other water-lovers.
