Philadelphia is known as the the "City of Brotherly Love," a phrase coined by the English Quaker William Penn, who envisioned a place where all could live together in peace and harmony. Another nickname, the "City of Murals," is nicely apt, because even the most run-down inner-city areas are plastered with beautiful paintings, mosaics, and other public art thanks in large part to an arts education organization called the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. Philadelphia is second only to New York in population on the east coast of the U.S.; both its rich past and thriving present make it a must-see on a tour of eastern urban centers. During America's colonial days, Philadelphia was the largest and most influential city around, and that can still be seen and felt in the "Old City," a central area that's a focal point for sights such as the First Bank of the United States and the Liberty Bell Pavilion. Distinct neighborhoods such as Germantown lend themselves to unique micro-experiences within the bigger picture, and the size of the city alone lends itself to great cultural perks, such as the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra.

Philadelphi feels like a cross between Brooklyn and colonial Williamsburg.  Center City is a great place to chck out.  Lots of great local beer in Philly.  Be sure to have a Yards IPA.  Check out Jones resaturant.
