Top Driving Destinations Around Seattle / Washington
Seattle is in the heart of the Puget Sound, a natural formation nestled between the towering Olympic mountains, the majestic Cascade range and beautiful Pacific Ocean. With access to hundreds of miles of traffic free highways, Seattle is a great starting point for getting out on the road and exploring the treasures of Washington.

1. The Cascade Loop Scenic Highway
The "loop" is are a series of highways that comprise Washington's most pristine and scenic views. With over 400 miles of road, it's a popular weekend driving event, with stays over at Central Washington's famous Leavenworth city - known for it's Oktoberfest and Festival of Lights celebration. National Geographic calls it one of America's grandest and most spectacular drives. Just be sure to make the loop during the summer or autumn months, as the passes are snowy or even closed during the winter.

2. Pacific Coast Scenic Byway
Stretching all the way from the tip of the Olympic Penninsula down through Oregon and into California, the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway is a wonderful 360 mile span of highway that rides along the coast. Beaches, mountain sides, lush green valleys and dunes are all to be seen along this windy stretch.

3. Olympic Peninsula Loop
Seattle is set against the Olympics, a range of mountains on the Olympic Peninsula that are among the tallest in Washington. The loop takes travelers around the winding and twisting routes of the peninsula, making for both a fun and scenic drive. Stop at any of the numerous parks to watch the wildlife - and even whales - or just enjoy the breeze.

4. Whidbey Island
Accessible by ferry, Whidbey Island is a naturalist's paradise. Forests, wildlife, small shops and a sense of adventure are all part of this quaint island. This 16 mile route is short but sweet, taking tourists along a string of small hops that will sure to delight.
